YABIMO at East Anglia THREE, the world’s second largest wind farm development

Norway

Country
Participated specialists:

The East Anglia THREE (EA3) wind farm is a major offshore renewable energy development located in the North Sea, approximately 69 km off the Suffolk coast in eastern England. It forms part of the wider East Anglia Hub — one of the most significant wind energy clusters in the UK — and is designed to contribute to Britain’s transition to low-carbon power generation.

East Anglia THREE is being developed by ScottishPower Renewables and Iberdrola, co-invested with partners including Masdar. The project will consist of approximately 95 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, each with a capacity of around 14.7 MW, giving the farm a total installed capacity of approximately 1,400 MW. When operational, the farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 1.3 million homes, significantly supporting the UK’s renewable energy targets and CO₂ emissions reduction goals.

Offshore construction commenced in 2025, with the first monopile foundations and transition pieces already installed. The project includes the fabrication and installation of major elements such as foundations, turbine structures, export cables and an offshore platform to support operations. East Anglia THREE is scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of 2026, continuing to expand the UK’s leadership in offshore wind energy.

Starting in July 2026, YABIMO will be providing specialised offshore personnel to support key aspects of the East Anglia THREE project. These experienced professionals will contribute to supervisory and coordination roles that underpin safe, efficient and high-quality execution of ongoing offshore work.

The specialists provided by YABIMO include:

  • Project leaders – overseeing and coordinating offshore activities, ensuring alignment with project schedules, quality and safety standards

Project significance:
East Anglia THREE is one of the UK’s largest offshore wind energy projects and is expected to play a major role in achieving national renewable energy ambitions. With advanced turbine technology, extensive offshore infrastructure and strategic integration into the UK grid, the project not only supports energy transition goals but also stimulates the regional supply chain and job creation in the renewable sector.
