The Johan Castberg project is one of the largest energy ventures being developed on the Norwegian continental shelf, led by Equinor (formerly Statoil), in collaboration with partners such as Eni Norge and Petoro. The fields being exploited within this project are located in the Barents Sea region, approximately 240 kilometers northwest of Hammerfest.
The project involves the development of three main fields: Skrugard, Havis, and Drivis, with initial resources estimated at about 450-650 million barrels of oil. The infrastructure includes the construction of a floating production, storage, and offloading unit (FPSO), which allows for the extraction, storage, and loading of resources in the challenging and demanding climatic conditions of this region.
Our specialists were involved in the project. We supplied engineers, electricians, insulators and welders, among others, there.
Johan Castberg is a key project from the perspective of the Norwegian economy, supporting local industry and creating numerous jobs. The start of production was planned for the years 2022-2024, marking a significant step towards increasing Norwegian extraction in the Arctic area. Furthermore, the project emphasizes sustainable environmental management by introducing advanced technologies and procedures aimed at minimizing its impact on nature.
