As a part of this initiative, the Snøhvit Future Project stands out for its major emissions reduction efforts. By electrifying the process—replacing existing gas turbine generators with sustainable power from shore—the project will contribute significantly to decarbonizing oil and gas production. This ambitious move will reduce emissions equivalent to 13% of the oil and gas industry’s targeted 55% reduction by 2030. Remarkably, this equates to a two percent reduction in Norway’s annual emissions.
